Viacom18 is all set to take over the media rights of the Indian Super League (ISL) from the 2024/25 season. Viacom18 will replace Star Sports Network, which currently holds the rights.
Star Sports, which has a five-year partnership agreement in place with Football Sports Development (FSDL), will have the current deal expire at the end of 2023. Star Sports has held the broadcast rights of the Indian Super League since its inception in 2014.
Gaining the broadcast rights for the ISL will be another feather in Viacom18’s ever-growing cap. It already enjoys the digital rights of the Indian Premier League, the Women’s Premier League, the Betway SA20, the 2024 Olympics, LaLiga Santander, the Serie A TIM, and Ligue 1 Uber Eats.
Most recently, Viacom18 acquired the digital rights for the Women’s Premier League for a period of five years, from 2023 to 2027, for a reported amount of ?951 crore.
