Stoffel Vandoorne and Felipe Drugovich to stand in for McLaren

Aston Martin’s Stoffel Vandoorne and Felipe Drugovich will stand-in as McLaren’s Reserve Drivers should the situation arise, the British Formula One teams have confirmed.

Aston Martin have stated that they have come to an agreement with McLaren that will see Vandoorne and Drugovich step-in for the Woking-based team for the first 15 races of the 2023 Formula One season, if need be.

Vandoorne is a previous Formula One driver for McLaren and joined Aston Martin in November 2022, with reigning Formula 2 champion Drugovich also having joined the team (as a Reserve Driver) and their development programme.

Aside from Vandoorne and Drugovich, McLaren had earlier roped in Mercedes’ Reserve Driver Mick Schumacher in a similar role. INDY Car champion Álex Palou is McLaren’s Official Reserve Driver.
