Charles Leclerc started his F1 career in 2018 with Sauber and was part of the drivers’ academy of Ferrari, who didn’t take long in bringing him to the main Scuderia Ferrari F1 team as they signed him in 2019 to replace veteran Kimi Räikkönen.
Leclerc had an impressive first season with Sauber, but what was in store for 2019 with Ferrari was a surprise to the whole F1 circuit. During his first season at Ferrari, the Monaco-born driver recorded ten podium finishes, which included two wins in Belgium and Italy, four fastest laps, and most pole positions of any driver that season, with seven.
Post the 2019 season, however, Leclerc has not been able to maintain the form he showed. He has only managed three podium appearances and two pole positions in 2020 and 2021 combined, which is way below the potential his early performances promised.
Going into the 2022 season, Leclerc will be rejuvenated and look to add many more F1 wins to his CV, and with the help of Carlos Sainz, he will want to guide Ferrari back to the top of F1.
