Inter Milan and KONAMI announce multi-year global partnership

Italian football club Inter Milan have announced a multi-year global partnership with Japanese video game company KONAMI. The partnership will make KONAMI the club’s Global Football Videogame Partner as well as their Youth Development Centre Partner and Training Kit Back Partner.

KONAMI has secured Inter Milan as an eFootball exclusive team from July 2024. This deal will see EA Sports FIFA lose lose Inter Milan’s naming rights and will have to choose an alternate name for the team, similar to when KONAMI secured exclusive rights for fellow Italian superclub Juventus, which forced EA Sports to rename the club to Piemonte Calcio for its FIFA games.

Inter Milan will feature in eFootball from version 2.0.0 onwards. This means the game will feature authentic Inter kits, a newly-branded training kit and the famous San Siro stadium.

Commenting on the deal, Alessandro Antonello, Corporate CEO of FC Internazionale Milano, said:

“This new multi-year global partnership agreement proves the importance of a common path between Inter and KONAMI, a clear commitment that resumes a bond that began years ago and will continue into the future, based on shared values and objectives.

Luca Danovaro, Chief Revenue Officer of FC Internazionale Milano, stated:

“We are delighted to welcome KONAMI back into the Inter family and to announce this important and unique partnership, which once again proves the ever-growing value of the Nerazzurri brand and its ability to represent the ideal communication platform to engage a young, innovative and international target, capable of connecting millions of fans around the world, thanks to a long-term strategy. Starting this season, KONAMI will play a leading role in our world.

Naoki Morita, European president of KONAMI Digital Entertainment BV, also added:

“Joining forces with a club of Inter’s calibre as part of our football partners is so exciting for KONAMI. With the new name of the Youth Development Centre, the eFootball™ logo on the various teams’ training kits and a range of eSports activations, at KONAMI we know that this partnership will generate plenty of success now and in the long term.”
