Honda announced as Japanese Grand Prix title sponsor

Honda Motor Co Ltd has been announced as the title sponsor of the Japanese Grand Prix for the 2022 Formula One Championship.
The race in Japan this year will be held at the iconic Suzuka Circuit on October 9, 2022, and the official title of the race will be FORMULA 1 HONDA JAPANESE GRAND PRIX 2022.
The Japanese Grand Prix 2022 will be the first race in Japan since the 2019 race, where Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas took the win. Due to the COVID pandemic, the race hasn’t taken place for the last two years.

Speaking about the announcement, Koji Watanabe, Operating Executive, Head of Corporate Communications Supervisory Unit, Honda Motor Co Ltd, commented:
“It is great pleasure for Honda to be named as the title sponsor of the F1 Japanese Grand Prix to be held at the Suzuka Circuit which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. In this year’s Japanese Grand Prix, 10 teams including Oracle Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri, which Honda supports as a team partner, will compete with 20 drivers who will demonstrate their driving skills and talent at the highest peak in the world of racing.
“By contributing to this outstanding Grand Prix, Honda will continue supporting the further promotion and popularisation of motorsports in Japan.”

As a partner for the AlphaTauri team, Honda will see AlphaTauri’s young Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda compete in his first-ever home race at Suzuka.
