Footballer Alexia Putellas named Mango brand ambassador

Women’s football superstar and two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas has been roped in by Spanish clothing design and manufacturing company Mango as a brand ambassador. The partnership is aimed at developing social welfare projects, promoting education for children, and creating a positive impact on society.

Commenting on the company’s association with the Barcelona Femení captain, Toni Ruiz, CEO of Mango, said:

Alexia is exemplary and has broken the mold on and off the field: a role model for younger generations for having managed to give visibility to women’s sports and for promoting equal opportunities for men and women.

She stands out for her leadership skills and teamwork, two values that are very relevant to our company. We are very proud to have Alexia as part of our team so that together we can contribute to driving positive change.

Mango is no stranger to collaborations with football stars. In 2014, it named the legendary French ex-footballer Zinedine Zidane as a brand ambassador for its men’s division. Similarly, in March last year, the brand appointed ZIdane’s compatriot, Atlético Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann to star in the campaign for its Spring/Summer 2022 collection.

For Putellas, this is not her first foray into the world of fashion collaborations. The 28-year-old Spanish midfielder has collaborated in the past with Swiss watchmaker Hublot as well as with Spanish brand El Ganso as part of a partnership involving the Spain women’s national football team.

Commenting on her association with Mango, Putellas said:

Mango is a brand that I have always known, that has never been missing from my wardrobe, that I love and admire for its journey and the way it does things. What’s more, the head office is very close to Mollet del Vallès (Barcelona), where I grew up, so it’s very dear to me.

Founded in 1984 in Barcelona, Mango is currently present in 115 markets worldwide through its network of shops and its online platform. According to its latest financial results, the company achieved a turnover of €1.21 billion in the first half of its 2022 financial year, up by 25% compared to the same period from the year before.
