Video game maker Blizzard Entertainment has signed a new multi-year partnership agreement with esports and video game entertainment company ESL FACEIT Group (EFG). This will result in the launch of the Overwatch Championship Series (OWCS), featuring Overwatch 2.
The OWCS circuit will be open to players in North America, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia.
EFG will serve as the Premier Operator to the OWCS, with Blizzard using its full suite of properties to create an open, inclusive, and sustainable competitive community.
While ESL FACEIT Group will run the OWCS in Europe, North America, and the Middle East, Asia’s OWCS will be run by WDG, a leading esports tournament organiser based in South Korea.
The OWCS is set to have two tentpole events in 2024 at DreamHack.
