Danish CS:GO team have signed Farlig.
Danish esports organisation Astralis have announced a change to their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster, which will see their former GODSENT and FunPlus Phoenix player Asger ‘Farlig’ Jensen join the team. Farlig will be replacing Philip ‘Lucky’ Ewald and take over as the main AWPer on the side.
Lucky had joined the Astralis roster back in August 2021 as a replacement for Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz. Since then, Lucky’s time at Astralis has been tumultuous. Initially, after trying out dupreeh and gla1ve with the AWP, Astralis finally seemed to have gotten an AWPer, but for the PGL Major, it was gla1ve who AWP-ed with Lucky demoted to the rifling role.

The Farlig addition is Astralis’ sixth roster change since dev1ce left, and the four-time Danish Major champions will be hoping for their new signing to help them find some of that missing stability.
Astralis finally seemed to have found their footing at IEM Cologne 2021 where they debuted their new dual signings of k0nfig and blameF, but a semifinal appearance was what they could manage best. With their coach zonic and dupreeh and Magisk leaving, Lucky’s inconsistency on the AWP didn’t help the Danish team either, and they ended 2021 with a best of a third-place finish at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals.
Heading into the first tournament of 2022, IEM Katowice, Lucky had a less than impressive outing with a 0.95 HLTV rating and a sub-par 0.23 AWP kills per round, which saw Astralis get knocked out in a 7th-8th place encounter.
Danish AWPer Farlig, who broke into the scene with Copenhagen Flames in 2019, has had a strong few outings recently. He first got a call to GODSENT and then performed well for FunPlus Phoenix, who bought the GODSENT team in 2021. Farlig currently has a decent 1.16 K/D rating, and his aggressive play style will compliment those of k0nfig and blameF, both of whom are known to be aggressive players.
Speaking about his move to Astralis, Farlig commented:
“I probably say the same thing as most other players would say: Astralis is a team and an organisation that most players can only dream of playing for, with a massive fan base who supports the team in thick and thin.
“I am really looking forward to being able to call myself an Astralis player and I will do everything to prove I am the right choice. I know, I will need to deliver relatively quickly so that we can get this team where we belong, and even though everyone is preaching ‘patience’, I just want to get started and help the team prove itself.”
Kasper Hvidt, Director of Sports, Astralis, added:
“Asger possesses many of the qualities we need on the team: He is an aggressive impact player who’s not afraid to take on the fight and take initiative. He creates space for his teammates, while at the same time contributing to the team dynamics by being the person he is. You should always be careful not to put too much pressure on new players, but we actually expect Asger’s playing style and skills will add positively to his teammates’ performance and help us take the next important steps.
“The change means that we have to bench Philip “Lucky” Ewald. For 7 months he has worked with himself and the team, but, unfortunately and despite all his and the team’s work, we have not been able to get the best out of him. Philip is a cool and very well-liked guy with some obvious skills we have not managed to unfold. He will stay on contract for now, and no matter what happens, I am sure we will hear more from ‘Lucky’ in the future.”
Astralis are next in action at the ESL Pro League Season 15, which gets underway from March 9. Their current roster is as follows:
