For the upcoming El Clásico, FC Barcelona are set to wear Canadian rapper and singer Drake’s logo on the front of their matchday shirt against Real Madrid.

For the first time, Barcelona will use an artist’s emblem in place of that of their shirt sponsor Spotify, which is part of front-of-matchday-shirt sponsorship agreement between the two parties. The logo of Drake’s label OVO Sound is an owl’s silhouette.

The move is aimed at honouring Drake becoming the first artist to reach 50 billion Spotify streams.

The duel between the Spanish heavyweights in LaLiga will commence at 7:45 pm (IST) on Sunday, October 16, 2022.

Commenting on the logo feature, Barcelona’s Vice-President, Marketing, Juli Guiu, said:

“For the first time in our history, we are replacing the name of our main partner on the front of the jersey with an internationally acclaimed artist in Drake, winner of 4 Grammy awards and record breaker in different categories, such as being the first artist to accumulate 50 billion streams on Spotify.

“This initiative shows our potential to become a unique platform to offer experiences that help bring us closer to our fans while reaching out to new audiences around the world.”

Drake also posted on social media upon receiving the honour:

“This doesn’t feel real but it is.
