Club will provide trading cards through Fanzone app.

Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg have announced a new partnership with digital platform Fanzone which will see the German club step into the crypto and NFT world.

As part of the deal, Wolfsburg will be releasing digital trading cards through the Fanzone app and their fans will be able to purchase, trade and collect them and participate in fantasy games.

The first phase will see the launch of two men’s team packs, which will be followed by two women’s team packs along with a mixed release as well.

Speaking about the deal, VfL Wolfsburg Managing Director, Michael Meeske, stated:

There are lots of NFT solutions in this fledgling market. In Fanzone, we have found a partner who puts the interests of our fans first and helps us venture down new innovative paths. Football trading cards have been close companions for fans for generations, and we’re delighted to now bring this continued enthusiasm to our supporters in digital terms – all thanks to blockchain-based applications.

CEO of Fanzone Media, Dirk Weyel added:

We’re grateful for the trust placed in us and are delighted to include VfL Wolfsburg, one of Germany’s strongest football clubs, on our fan engagement platform. It’s important to us to build a sustainable, exciting and valuable platform for sports fans and our partners – and in VfL Wolfsburg, we have a great partner who support our mission. Even after the launch edition, fans can look forward to further fantastic, special NFT releases featuring the Wolves.

VfL Wolfsburg’s deal with Berlin-based Fanzone makes them the first Bundesliga club to enter the NFT trading cards world.
