Moeen Ali Objects on CSK Jersey's Liquor Brand Logo

Just a few days before the start of the IPL 2021, England’s star all-rounder Moeen Ali shared his disapproval with an alcohol brand’s symbol on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jersey. Moeen Ali, who represented Bengaluru in the IPL 2020, has made a special request to the Chennai management, asking that the symbol from his jersey be stripped because drinking alcohol is against his religious values.

The SNJ 10000 logo exists on the Chennai Super Kings jersey, which is a proxy product brand of Chennai-based SNJ Distilleries. The management fulfilled Ali’s request and removed the liquor brand logo from his jersey, because other players still sport it.

Moeen is a practicing Muslim who believes strongly in his faith, which forbids him from consuming or promoting alcohol. Moeen has always stayed true to his convictions and has never worn an alcohol brand’s badge on his jersey, whether with England’s national team or some other franchise team he has represented around the globe.

Chennai Super Kings unveiled their latest uniform on Wednesday for the next season and marked an initial improvement in the outfit in 11 years. Skipper MS Dhoni revealed the shining yellow jersey designed by Myntra. The redesigned IPL 2021 package is equipped with a camouflaged strap on the shoulders of the symbolic lion. The camouflage is, according to sources, a tribute to the armed forces of India.
